Termites

Cockroaches

The most common species of cockroach in the DC / Hagerstown Metro area is the German cockroach. Ants

Pavement ants build nests on the edges of sidewalks and concrete pads, creating unsightly dirt and sand mounds. Pharaoh ants prefer warm, humid places, near drains or pipes, and they may seek the warmth of your home during the colder months.

Bed bugs

Bed bugs feed off of human blood. While they do not carry disease-causing pathogens, their bites can be itchy. Bed bugs are tricky to spot and even trickier to get rid of. These blood-sucking bugs will hide in tight spaces – such as the piping of your mattress, headboards, baseboards, and even cracks in dresser drawers. They come out at night when humans are still long enough for bed bugs to feed off them for a blood meal. They can easily spread through rowhomes where each unit shares a common wall.

Mice

Web-building spiders will head indoors to build their webs and spawn more spiders. They can get into cracks and crevices, and hide in cluttered areas. Common spiders in this region include the common house spider, cellar spider and jumping spider. The wolf spider is another arachnid common to the DC/Hagerstown region and can bite humans when provoked.
